On Saturday 27th of Feb we will be having our first Sisters Beach Community Association (SBCA) meeting for 2016.
First up will be our Annual General Meeting where the president, treasurer and secretary will be elected. Anyone wanting to be involved in one of these roles can nominate on the day, we will also report on our recent activities and financials.
Then we will have an open forum discussion, we encourage all members of the community to talk about all matters relating to the Sisters Beach. If you have ideas about broad community issues, would like to promote your small business, sport or hobby group etc we would like to hear from you.
It would be great to hear everyone’s views and reach consensus on some of the plans for open space and recreation infrastructure.
One of the main discussion points in the community has been the construction of a hard stand sport court/skate facility to cater for our growing number of young people and other active types among us.
Many parents are especially concerned about the current lack of an appropriate area for kids to play safely and would like a central hub where they can gather, play sports, skate, ride etc which is away from traffic and residences. The SBCA can work with all levels of government to achieve progress this year and leverage available funding as part of the community grants system and upcoming federal election. It is therefore critical that the location and concept design of such a facility is agreed upon as a community, hopefully this can be achieved in the next month and aligns with the broader plan for the creek area. Via this open forum, it is important any aspect relating to the environment, noise, safety and other concerns are discussed in a positive way so we can reach agreement with individuals and groups.
Recent attendance numbers at our meetings has been quite low, to help the SBCA progress plans that everyone has contributed to and can benefit from, we encourage as many people as possible to be involved, especially at this first meeting for the year.
The meeting will be at the Pear Tree Cafe this Saturday 27th Feb at 10am, coffee and refreshments are available from the Cafe.
Look forward to seeing you there.
