Penny Paperbark Working Group
Where: Paperbark Woodland, Sisters Inlet – between the two main bridges, just west of the car park.
What: We will be protecting some more of the sprouting paperbark shoots with tree guards, anchoring down roots that have shoots coming out, and laying the next lot of the brush mattresses. We will also test out the photopoints that have been set up on the site – using your phones.
If you don’t have time to help out on this day, feel free to drop in and find out more about what we are doing.
After this, the next working bee is likely to be over Easter, when Janet will come down with a whole lot of friends from the big island - all are welcome to be part of this.
WHAT TO BRING ON WEDNESDAY:
Hats, gloves, long pants, sunscreen & suitable shoes
Trowels, weeding spades
Hammers (heavy hammer is best, but any will do)
A staple gun, if you have one
Hamilton Tree Planters, if you have any
Bring something to share for afternoon tea – our last two have been awesome!

COMMUNITY MEETING TO DISCUSS PROPOSED NEW SUBDIVISIONS

(pre order if you like Ph: 64 451147)
Some talking points raised on our facebook page as a conversation starter…
Public Open Space - there is no provision for any in this new subdivision proposal (or any of the recent subdivisions)
Trend in other states to move away from high density housing close to National Parks and Forest Reserves
Fire threat - single road access, lessons from Mallacoota
Single Road Access into village – extra pressure on wildlife deaths, speed limit, extra traffic, evacuation
Infrastructure – sewage, stormwater (high water table), extra traffic around streets etc
Liveability during construction – extra traffic from trucks and service vehicles/impact for many years
Serrata Crescent – vacant blocks
The recent proposal to change the traffic on Bridge Street (at the bridge) – single lane/extra traffic/trucks?
